WWE is is currently in a huge global tour, with holding events in the United Kingdom last week before going to Puerto Rico for the Backlash PLE and will wrap up the month with Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on May 27th. The company will continue it’s run of global events with Money in the Bank in London in July.
Fan reaction to all of these events has been incredible, with many fans suggesting more WWE PLE’s should be held outside of the USA.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has nowreported WWE are looking into this being a possibility, stating “WWE has spoken with reps in Australia to gauge interest of a potential PLE event.”
WWE has only held one pay-per-view/premium live event in company history as WWE Super Show-Down took place on October 6, 2018, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia, with Raw, SmackDown, and 205 Live talent that featured ten matches on the card. Two of those bouts featured Australian wrestlers Buddy Murphy and The IIconics.
The event drew 70,309 people and aired on the WWE Network. It was headlined by Triple H defeating The Undertaker.
WWE also held WWE Global Warning Tour: Melbourne on August 10, 2002, at Colonial Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, which was later released on DVD, where in the main event, The Rock defeated Triple H and Brock Lesnar in a Triple Threat match to retain the WWE Undisputed Championship.
