Molly Holly is finally telling whether or not she cared about Jerry Lawler’s comments about her from her wrestling days.
Molly Holly burst onto the wrestling scene at the height of Monday Night Wars. The real-life Nora Kristina Benshoof defected to WWE after a short-lived stint with WCW. Molly would soon find herself to be the subject of Jerrly Lawler’s one-liners. The King was known for his lewd and explicit take on female performers but Molly, in particular, never cared about his remarks.
Speaking during a Highspot Sign It Live appearance, Molly revealed she never held anything against Lawler’s commentary though she would have preferred if WWE had focused on her in-ring performance instead of her appearance.
“I have always liked Jerry and I knew that he had a job to do and he did his job well. I didn’t particularly care of the things he said, but I never held that against him personally. His job was to entertain the demographic that was watching the show and at the time, that was all culturally acceptable and funny. No problems with it even though I would have rather they talk about my athleticism. It was what it was for the time.”
Lawler last provided commentary for WWE television in April 2022.
