CM Punk claims he was forced to lose to Jon Moxley in a squash message despite being injured at the time.
CM Punk’s name continues to make rounds despite his continued absence from AEW television. The Second City Saint last worked for the promotion at the All Out pay-per-view event. Punk took the title away from Jon Moxley that night.
The win, however, was tainted by the brawl that took place behind closed doors between Punk, Ace Steel and The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks). The parties involved were suspended in the aftermath of what is now known as Brawl Out.
In the weeks leading up to the show, Punk put his title on the line against Jon Moxley. The match saw Mox squash Punk for the AEW World Championship. Punk took to Instagram on Sunday to break his silence amid rumors that he forced Tony Khan to put the title on him.
For those wondering, here’s the match Punk was talking about in his post.
In a since-deleted message, Punk called Dave Meltzer a liar and Chris Jericho a stooge for allegedly feeding false information to veteran journalist. Chris Jericho reacted to CM Punk’s post with an Instagram story of his own. The Wizard took a dig at Punk’s removal of the story after he had posted it earlier.
Punk hasn’t appeared on AEW since Brawl Out. It remains to be seen whether or not Tony Khan will respond to Punk’s claims. Stay tuned to PWExclusive for more!
