AEW is set to make it’s UK debut on August 27 and the anticipation seems to be high just days prior to the announcement confirming the event.
On Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite, AEW President Tony Khan announced the promotion will bring All In to Wembley Stadium. The iconic London stadium can accommodate up to 94,000 fans with many fans predicting a sell out of the venue.
It is important to note that AEW is very popular in the UK, where Dynamite airs on free to air television on ITV and regular attracts viewing figures outdrawing WWE’s weekly television shows although these do air on a pay-tv premium sports channel.
The promotion has gotten off to a great start with 25,000 people signing up for the show’s pre-sale registration, according to Dave Meltzer’s report in the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Meltzer stated, “Tickets go on sale to the public on 5/5, but they are doing a pre-register for early access with a code, and there will be a pre-sale on 5/2. That will largely give a strong clue as to how successful the show will end up being. There were reports of 25,000 sign-ups the first day.”
It is yet to be confirm if this event will air on PPV, although it’s widely believed that this will be the case as operating a stadium house show is illogical. Nevertheless, it will occur a week prior to the annually scheduled All Out pay-per-view event over Labor Day Weekend.
It’s unclear if the company would hold two PPV events a week apart, push back All Out, or skip this year’s All Out show.
